If you attempt to launch the Zoom application and receive an error message stating that your Zoom app is out of date, please follow these steps:

  1. Close Zoom if it is currently running by right-clicking the Zoom icon in the system tray and selecting "Exit".
  2. Open a web browser and go to https://zoom.us/download. This will take you to the Zoom download center.
  3. Click the "Download" button under the "Zoom Client for Meetings" section.
  4. The Zoom installer file (ZoomInstallerFull.msi on Windows or Zoom.pkg on Mac) will download. Run this file once downloaded to install the latest Zoom update. (Support Article Reference)
  5. Once the installation completes, launch the new version of the Zoom app.
  6. If you are still unable to open the Zoom app, the next step in the troubleshooting process is to uninstall Zoom and reinstall it.  This support article walks you through this process.

If you continue to get the "app out of date" error after installing the latest version, please submit a ticket to the IT Help Desk at [email protected] or call 651-641-8866. An IT staff member will assist you further.

Keeping Zoom up-to-date is important for security and getting access to new features. However, sometimes there can be deployment delays getting new versions out. The IT team aims to approve new Zoom releases for campus use as quickly as possible after testing.
