If you are no longer able to print using Mobility Print (follow) on a Mac, this is likely due to a recent password change and the device saving your old password. To resolve this issue, your Mac needs to ask for authentication so you can enter your new password.
If you submit a print job and the print queue provides an error message that says "Hold for Authentication" (see example below), you can resolve the issue by clicking the Refresh button . This should prompt you to re-enter your CSP credentials (username and password).
If it does NOT prompt you to re-enter your credentials or if the job successfully goes through but you are still unable to print, you will need to force the Mac to request authentication. To do this, please follow the steps below:
-
In search, look for an application called terminal. Open the application.
-
Once terminal is opened, type lpstat -s to list all printers on the system.
-
Find the problem printer ([followu]) in the list of devices. The printer name will be located after the line “device for”
-
EX:
device for followu: usb://00000000-0000-0000-AB12-00000000
In this example, the printer name would be
followu
-
-
Type
sudo lpadmin -p followu -o auth-info-required=username,password
and hit return to run the command. Then enter your Mac’s password to continue (might not appear when typing but type your computer password and hit enter). -
Send another job to the problem printer and enter credentials when prompted. (CSP Username and CSP Password)
